WILLS & ESTATES

SERVICES
Wills and Estate Planning

The creation of a Will is part of estate planning. Your Will is a document that states your wishes as to the disposal of your property after death. To ensure those wishes transpire, a properly created and executed Will is necessary. Multiple Wills can also be used to help reduce estate administration tax.

Power of Attorney for Property

A Power of Attorney for Property is a document that grants power to a person to control the assets of another person, which usually occurs when someone can no longer manage their assets due to legal incapacity.

Power of Attorney for Personal Care

A Power of Attorney for Personal Care is a document that grants power to a person to control personal care decisions of another person, which usually occurs when someone can no longer make day-to-day decisions, healthcare decisions, or otherwise, due to legal incapacity.

Trusts

A trust is a document that creates a legal relationship among three parties: the settlor, the trustee, and the beneficiary. The settlor transfers property to the trustee for the benefit of the beneficiary. Like a Will, this is another way of disposing of property. There are different kinds of trusts, each of which with its own purpose.

Estate Administration

We advise estate trustees who are named to administer an estate, which involves several steps such as obtaining a certificate of appointment of estate trustee, gathering assets, settling debts, beneficiary distributions, and more.
